Peter Sato Award in Japanese language

 

Mr. Peter Sato, a distinguished Japanese diplomat and former ambassador to China, has established the Peter Sato Award to promote Japanese language education across Canada. This award will be given to the York University student who achieves the highest placement in the National Japanese Speech Contest. The contest judges candidates on the basis of their speech topic, proficiency in Japanese and presentation skills. Should a suitable candidate not be found, a student will be selected by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics who best meets the objectives of this award.

This award will be presented annually to a student who has achieved the overall top academic performance among those who have enrolled in courses offered by the Japanese Section.
