Welcome to the web site for the Japanese Studies Program, Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, York University. This site is primarily for students who are studying Japanese Studies at York University, but all the instructional materials are made available to anyone who is interested in learning the Japanese language, culture and society via the Internet. There is no password restriction. We believe that free access to materials on the Internet will be beneficial to those who are willing to learn, but do not have direct access to formal courses or programs.

The site is constantly under revision. We welcome your comments, and hope you will find the materials and information provided on our site useful and helpful.

There are four mirror sites - Buna, Kusu, Tsuge.and Udo The content on each site is the same. If the server you have accessed to seems slow or you cannot access to one of them, please try another one. With these four sites we wish to secure uninterrupted access to information and materials.

The Japanese Studies Program offers an honours minor degree program.

ONLINE COURSE DELIVERY

The entire course might take place on line using Zoom and Moodle.
Students participate in this course through video conferencing and appear on video for tutorial participation and activities, remote proctoring for skits and tests. Students are required to have stable high-speed Internet connection and a computer with webcam and microphone
